Abdullah ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم would say, “The best of you are those with the best behavior,” and the Prophet was never obscene nor would he spread obscenity.
(Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Book 25, Number 1975)

The Mandaeans are a primarily Iraqi people who practice Mandaeism, a gnostic faith whose central figure is John the Baptist/Yahya ibn Zakariyya (hence their emphasis on ritual ablution). They are believed to be related to the Sabians of the Quran, and in that light, may be counted among the People of the Book. Unfortunately, the Mandeans are a target of discrimination and consequently most have emigrated, with their population in Iraq dwindling from roughly 70,000 in 2003 to 7,000 in 2010.

“…learning how to think really means learning how to exercise some control over how and what you think. It means being conscious and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meaning from experience.”
